13.7.19 - bush camp through to Hungerford.

Up, packed and on the track by 9.30. Kate into Ska for another go in the manual.

Flowers viewed from the loo.

Kate getting the hang out it

Only 30 odd kms up the track through the Border dog proof fence gate into QLD and Hungerford.

Over the border into QLD

Bulloo Shire

A double decker bus at the pub! Why not?

And a whole tribe of animals.
A stop for showers and washing at the honesty system caravan park. One shower per toilet block and one washing machine.

I showered and lined up washing then back to the pub for fuel. An old gravity fed tank and service at the tank (no bowser). A pub full of memorabilia etc
A couple at the Cobb n Co stop at the Royal Mail. Hungerford was established as a Cobb n Co staging post.
The community caravan park - honesty box for a stay and washing.
A sign in the pub.
The menagerie out the front.
All about the pub. Royal Mail Hotel. Still the publican is the postmaster.
A rarity in the bush, both the elephant AND the phone box.
Playing frisbee while waiting for second load of washing

The flies were in fine fettle today and many of them, in line with the sign in the pub. Flynets were enlisted.
more frisbee
The washing
The laundry.
While hanging out the washing we decided to head to the pub for a look and lunch if they had it.
Lunch at Royal Mail Hotel ranging from pies, ham n cheese toasties to steak sanga and Kate with gluten free Smiths crisps.
The bar.
Left Hungerford just on one o’clock for Thargomindah.

We were traveling through Paroo/Bulloo River area. We figured there had been plenty of water through and there were many green patches. Mary and I were quite excited to see swathes of wildflowers. We needed to take some photos several times and then hot foot it to catch the others.
A white patch.

A white daisy.

Many photos were required.
The odd purple one.

Darling pea we think.
Darling Pea and Goodenia

Pink Pussytails.

Some sort of flower

Daisy of some sort.

At Thargomindah we stopped for fuel and grabbed a coffee. A quick call to work and then on the road to get some kms done prior to camp. Tomorrow we head to Innamincka then Monday night we need to be within reach of Birdsville for Tuesday to get our tickets and get out to the bash.
A heron in there. Pacific heron maybe.

Driving till just before 5pm we found a place off to the left about 93kms north of Thargomindah to pull in to camp for the night.
Camp tonight. Loo with a view.

Getting ready for tea and went to open the car and the bloody back door would not open again. This happened on the last trip and we had to unpack EVERYTHING including the cargo barrier to access the back panel.

Thankfully a bit of WD40 did the trick. Will leave open tonight and try and tape up some holes in the morning to keep the dust out.

There was a really cool wind and breeze all night. Very cold. Hot water bottles will be necessary just in case it stays cold.

Everyone a bit pooped and most in bed before 10.
