18.7.19 - Day 3 Part B - and last concert day at Bash.

MIDNIGHT OIL

Wow what a performance. As the sun set and the moon rose we were treated to a once in lifetime opportunity to see the Oils perform in the middle of Outback Queensland.

Peter Garrett announced that 48 hours earlier they were performing on their world tour in Düsseldorf Germany. Hard to believe the juxtaposition to a stage in the dusty outback at the base of the largest sand dune in the Southern Hemisphere- Big Red to an audience of 10 000.

We quickly went up to the back of the mosh pit to get some better views and photos.

The headliners hit the stage. Midnight Oil.

Up in the mosh pit.

It was epic Oils.

Here we are at the back of the pit.

The lightning and backdrop were sensational

Garrett started in a patterned shirt

Throughout the performance Peter added a warmer shirt, had a cuppa tea or two and then revealed a Supporting the Prevention of violence against women shirt. Later he added another Don’t Frack the Outback shirt. Always lobbying for the environment and a better place for all.

They played for about two hours with 3 encores.

We then packed our trolley and pushed/pulled it back through the dust and crowds back to campsite.

All packed up and ready. Pushing and pulling through the fine dusty soil was hard work. The wheels not quite big enough

Then it was time for the last of chicolate, biscuits and port and a cuppa before our last sleep.

Tomorrow it’s up for major pack up and rollout from Bashville.
