12.7.19 - Part A Goodwood Station to Somewhere in QLD?

My earliest wake up/get up this am - 7ish. Packed most of bed, pommy wet wipes wash and dressed.

Up before the sun so first sunrise. It wasn’t anything special. Meg was up to see it too.

Sunrise

Sunrise behind Ska and my tent.
Out to start the fire while waiting in loo queue, then the slowish pack up, breaky, pot of tea, thermos’ filled, dishes done, cars packed, dish water all saved for fire dousing.

Last queue for loo, then pack up toilet tent, fill the hole, douse the fire and ready for roll out just after nine.

Water waiting by the coals.

The loo queue and waiting to douse the coals.

Just hanging around doing those last minute things. Brushing teeth etc.

Water done, cover it with dirt. Leave no trace.

Watching someone working.

Bonnet up checking things out.

The tenacity of these flowers to push through the hard ground is amazing

Phil bagsed the drivers seat of Pajero so I offered Kate a go at a manual, she only has an auto and hasn’t had much manual experience AND would love eventually a little Suzuki Jimny which only come in manual. The first start took a few attempts, but once on the road all good. Gear changes all good. Just needs practice

We all headed back to the Hometead to pay our $10 for camping and had a good chat to the family there. They are three years into drought and not expecting it to break this year. Farming sheep and free range goats (which are currently selling for $11per kg) on 150 000 acres and the neighbouring farm of 150 000 acres also.

They school the kids at home with School of the Air and spend a couple of weeks each year IN Broken Hill for school - about 3.5hours away.

Signage at Lake Peery. A great Henry Lawson quote.

Looking towards where Lake Peery would be.

Flowers abound.

A rare operational windmill

Water across the road

The road ahead.

Lunch at King George Waterhole.
