11.7.19 - Mutawinji Homestead Campground to????

It was a mild night so no extra layers needed.

Up and packed up ready for one of the Mutawinji walks. We chose the Rockholes loop track. It was a good walk along a creek bed, through gorges, past some Aboriginal rock etchings, lots of different trees.

The loop up to the Rockholes was steep. The gorge had been dammed to supply the homestead at some point in the past.

The lookout at the top of Rockholes, was a 360 view across the gorges down on a creek and back up the way we’d come.

We returned to camp for an early lunch before taking to the road again heading for our original destination - White Cliffs.

There was little to see. I
Fueled up and met the others at a coffee gallery opal mine. However coffee went off at 3 for a tour. So only Meg and Steve got a coffee. We carried on to find a campsite. We were into the Paroo-Darling National Park.

We turned off in the hope of a campsite outside the park (for firewood) then saw a sign for a Station stay at Goodwood Station. We arrived at the house, but no one was home. Walked around the house which was unlocked - door was open, a friendly white fluffy dog, a cat, heaps of farm vehicles, cars, utes, at least 4’4wheelers, several motorbikes, a big truck and a huge Caterpillar bulldozer type thing. At the end of the shed were 3 kelpies and another dog in their cage/kennel.

So we left again and found a camp off the road. We were still on the Station property with light running out.
As always we quickly make a camp wherever we stop. Wood collected, tents/vans etc erected and ready for nibbles again.

Setting up home for the night.

Then whipped up dinner of Satay Chicken for the Davey/Stuart triad. Dundek’s had macaroni delight, Willshire’s had tacos. Then time for the communal dishes/pack up.

A couple of cars came past on the farm track - the second one came over. The owner on her way back from Broken Hill where one of the kids were having adenoids out. She checked us out, indicated that they had stopped Farmstays a couple of years due to the dry weather, we will go back and pay in the morning. She wanted to be sure we’d put our fire out

All done by 8.30 -
time to sit around the fire chatting, playing trivia listening to some music etc.

Living the life.
Ten oclock was a bit too much for some.

Steve and Sarah both asleep in the chairs.
Time for bed at 10.30 for some and a little later for others.
